Form Example

To fill out the artwork submission form you will need the following information. We recommend composing it in a Word or other text document then copy/pasting into the online form.
The online form has two parts. One tab is the text information - when that is complete, hit submit and you will then be able to upload your images files. Please note image requirements below.

Title: The title of your piece. (“Untitled” is an option.)
Description: Materials, including finish, and what it is. Example:  “Segmented vessel. Maple, buckthorn, walnut. Shellac finish.” Or “Multi-axis sculpture. Holly with  ebony base. No finish.”
Dimensions:  Length by width by height (specify inches or metric)
Retail Price: If your piece is for sale, you will receive 55% of this amount if it is sold. If your piece is not for sale, enter NFS.
Theme Statement: 100 words or fewer. The theme statement explains how your piece fits the theme of Turning 30. Examples:
“Turned from thirty different woods, in “Turning Around the World” each segment represents a year in the AAW’s history, as well as the diversity of experiences and knowledge each member brings to woodturning as a whole.”
“Turning thirty is a sobering moment. Youth is left behind, but depth and strength  come with experience.  The triangular form, with sapwood at the base  transitioning to heartwood at the tip, reflects the narrowing of time and the density of experience and memory that comes with age.”

Artist statement:  (Optional, 100 word limit) If you don’t already have one, it is not required. The brief artist statement introduces the viewer to WHY you create what you do. It can also touch on your background and process.  Here is one from knitter Molly Gordon.
“From the beginning the process of transforming string into cloth has struck me as magical. Over  the years, that magical process has had its way with me, leading me from hobby to art.
Knitting fills me with a sense of accomplishment and integrity, and has proven a most amenable vehicle for translating inner vision to outer reality.
Though I work quite deliberately, consciously employing both traditional and innovative techniques, my unconscious is the undisputed project manager.
The concrete, repetitive nature of this work frees my imagination and provides many opportunities for happy accident and grace to influence the finished product.”

Images:  You may submit up to three images per piece. One must be an overall view.  The form itself has different numbers, but format your image as follows: Images should be 2100 pixels on the longest side, and must be under 2MB.
